Swedish Massage

This treatment is what comes to mind when most people think about massage.

As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But Swedish massage goes beyond relaxation, it is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension, reducing swelling and pain. This treatment can be adapted to suit you, working on specific areas applying as much pressure as required and wanted. It can be a deeply relaxing treatment as well as an intense massage working to ease tension on certain areas of the body.

Regular massage therapy not only helps diminish anxiety and discomfort but boosts relaxation which can lead to improved sleep patterns.

Massage offers a number of benefits for pregnant women; headaches can be relieved by focusing on the head, neck and shoulders; muscle tension created by carrying the extra weight of a baby can be relieved by encouraging blood flow to the afflicted areas, providing more nutrient-rich oxygen and increasing the flow of lymphatic fluid, which sweeps away toxins and metabolic wast; fatigue, backaches, leg cramps and swelling can also be relieved through various types of massage. During your massage I use supportive, soft cushions to alleviate the extra strain on the lower back and I also use a full pregnancy bolster pillow so you can lie face down with full support for bump. Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, describes how the ancient Egyptians used cupping therapy in 1,550 B.C.

Cupping has many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage. Glass cups are applied to the skin and suction is created. The cups are left for 20-25 minutes and then if required the cups can be walked across the skin for a deep tissue massage.
